Music

I like to listen to music all the time.  I have lots of MP3's and have ripped most of my cd's to mp3's just because they are easy.  The best player out there is Winamp.  It has no equal.  For versatility, compatibility, and looks.  It doesn't take up much CPU when it is running and it makes things sound great.  As far as rippers go, I have found that AudioGrabber works wonders.  And then there is the problem of encoding.  I had a real problem with this but finally I got an encoder that works well and is so much faster than anything else.  Xing.  It encodes a full song (~3:30) at high quality (128/44) really fast.  Like a minuet and  a half.  I kid you not.  It is really fast.  And it is worth every penny of the price which is only $20.  Not much for what it does.  For those of you who want really hq, Xing will encode up to 320K.  It makes a bigger file but it does sound good.

But enough about computer audio.  Lets talk about real audio, car audio.  I am a car audio fan.  I can't wait until I can get my car an throw in a couple of tens and make go boom.  I have been researching car audio for a while and while I claim to be no expert, I have found out a few thing by searching around the web and other resources.  The links I have up represent what I consider to be the best components and/or the best value.  I'm sure that there are better products on the market if you feel like spending more on your stereo than on the car but that's not my goal.  I just like things to sound good.

JL Audio.  These guys know how to make some subs.  They also make some very nice component speakers, enclosures, and do some very trick installs.  All of which are featured on their web site.

Another one of my favorites is Rockford.  As of right now, Rockford has 9 patented circuits.  Just that should say something about them.  They have technology that other amp manufactures haven't even thought of.  And they are cheap.

Another one of my favorite audio companies who is on the cutting edge of technology is Alpine.  Their head units are amazing.  The 3-disc in-dash changers, genius.  I want one.
